  1. Huon Hooke

2014 Reserve Isabella Riesling – Huon Hooke (May 2015)

Mid-yellow, forward-developed colour. The bouquet is open-knit and accessible, but not really toasty or developed yet, with very appealing red apple, musky floral aromas and a suggestion of volatility. The palate is as sharp as a razor! Sweetness, tangy sharp acidity and again a faint hint of VA make for a shrill, strident palate and finish. A half-dry style.

  2. Gary Walsh

2014 Reserve Isabella Riesling – Gary Walsh, The Wine Front (February 2015)

Not quite sure how much residual sugar this has, but seems to carry a fair bit. Maybe 20g/L or something. Maybe more. Off-dry, very much.
Peach, lime, mango, but stony and quite spicy too. Crunchy, juicy and flinty – sweet citrus and peach iced tea – mesh of acid and sweetness gives a nice amount of tension. Closes up dry and flinty. Petrol/mineral laced aftertaste. Refreshing style. Good to see a local off-dry that’s done this well.

  3. David Ellis

2014 Reserve Isabella Riesling – David Ellis, Canberra Weekly (April 2014)

Located higher than most of its neighbouring vineyards at Murrumbateman, 25 minutes north of Canberra, the company [Shaw Vineyard Estate] has earned a deserved reputation for fresh, crisp and balanced Riesling, with their 2014 Shaw Vineyard Estate Isabella, a lovely Germanic style whose apricot, apple, pear, sweet honey-like and citrus flavours make it great to enjoy with – and tame down – the heat of Thai and Mexican dishes.

  4. James Halliday

2014 Reserve Isabella Riesling – James Halliday, Wine Companion 2016 (November 2014)

Terrific intensity. Limey flavour attacks from the word go and continues all the way through to a thrilling finish. Musk, various florals and spice notes play an active role. Sweetness adds to the volume of flavour, but it’s that sizzling acidity that sets the wine aloft.

    95 Points.
