  1. Huon Hooke

2015 Semillon Sauvignon Blanc – Huon Hooke (November 2017)

Light straw colour and a fresh, snapped-twig, snowpea-like aroma. It’s delicate, restrained and refined, with lively acidity and a touch of green herb on the dry-balanced finish. A good example of its style.

  2. John Lewis

2015 Semillon Sauvignon Blanc – John Lewis (August 2017)

NOTHING harmonious seems to come from politics in the national capital, but I find the Canberra wine region the source of much enjoyment. In truth, more than half the wine district is in NSW – and that’s the case with this refreshing 95 per cent semillon blend. From Graeme and Ann Shaw’s 34-hectare vineyard near the village of Murrumbateman, the wine is green-tinted straw and has grassy aromas and a crisp lemony front palate. Gooseberry, basil and nashi pear characters show on the middle palate and the finish has slatey acid.
