    2018 Estate Riesling – Christine Salins (March 2019)

    The Canberra region generally produces fine Riesling that in my humble opinion rivals that which is being produced in South Australia’s Clare and Eden Valleys. A combination of vineyard location and an ever so slightly later harvest than others in the Canberra region allows winemaker Graeme Shaw to produce a Riesling that is a little more aromatic and a lot more passionfruit/tropical fruit flavoured than Canberra Riesling typically is. Nor is Shaw in a rush to release it onto the market, recognising that it takes a while for all the flavours to settle. It’s certainly worth the wait. This is a really beautiful wine, with green apple and lemon notes that make it refreshing to drink now, though we feel it will age gracefully as well.

    2018 Estate Riesling – John Rozentals (January 2019)

    This a classic cool-area dry riesling with crunchy green-apple and limey flavours. The wine has a touch of botrytis complexity but it is primarily its fresh minerality that I love. It forms a magic combination with a plate of freshly shucked oysters, but please take it easy with that squeeze of lemon.

    2018 Estate Riesling – QWine (December 2018)

    You could be forgiven for thinking this Riesling hails from the Clare Valley sub-region of Polish Hill River. Bone dry, it’s a scrumptious number ready to tear into fresh or fried seafood.

    Bath salts, green apple and white flower aromas flow neatly through to limes and lime pith. Apple sours sit prominently with an undercurrent of river stone minerality and kaffir lime leaf. Chalky feels in the mouth, it’s a refreshing wine, I’m thinking tempura whiting for the win.

    Drink now but it will age gracefully.
