Tasting Notes
Winemaking and Viticulture
Riesling is an aromatic grape variety displaying flowery, almost perfumed aromas as well as high acidity. This classic dry Riesling shows all these attributes. Much of the unique character of this wine is developed in the vineyard, low yielding spur-pruned vines with fruit harvested in the cool of the night to ensure fruit is delivered at temperatures less than 20 degrees.
The fruit is then lightly pressed and drained and only the free run juice is used to produce this elegant wine. All the fruit is sourced solely from Shaw Wines Murrumbateman vineyard, an area renowned for production of premium cool climate wines Stelvin closures are used for freshness and to ensure long term quality.

Vinonotebook – May 2020
As per previous releases, it sits on the mid-line of the “Dry” IRF section according to the scale. Floral and fragrant, lime and sweeter brulee edges with a touch of soapiness. Linear palate with fine focus and a light line of textural grip. The residual sugar is balanced neatly with refreshing acidity and a contributes to a slaking limey finish.

John Lewis – June 2020
A straw-hued, jasmine-scented riesling. The front palate has crisp, elegant lime flavour, the middle palate kiwifruit, green apple, gunmetal and nascent honey and a finish of flinty acid. Great for tapas and cellar for a decade.

The Canberra wine region was hard hit by the summer bushfires, so grab as much of this riesling as you can before it runs out. It’s bright and punchy like a lime margarita! Drink it with vege tray bakes, creamy pasta dishes, seafood.

Gourmet Traveller Wine – April/May 2020
Riesling is the Canberra region’s big secret. This has a pale hue and a reserved, talcy bouquet including the zest of lime and lemon. It’s bracingly fresh, concentrated and dry with deep mid-palate fruit. Piercing and high-energy. A ripper.Cellar for 1-10 years.
95 points/5 stars.

Huon Hooke – January 2020
Pale colour; very fresh, reserved, young and talcy to sniff. The wine is lemony and limy at the same moment, zesty and dry with a concentrated, fruity mid-palate and a trace of austerity. It will appreciate a bit of cellar time. Lime-zesty and piercing, high-energy wine. Excellent riesling. Cellar to 2030.
95/100 points.
